English – On the 12 of December 2017, at the United Nations Palais in Geneva, Yasmina Filali, President of the Fondation Orient-Occident, addressed the Delegations of the Member States at the inaugural session, with an intervention on the topic: “Morocco can be regarded as an example in terms of integration of refugees”.
After recalling the New York Declaration of 19 September 2016 on the response to the migration crisis, the High Commissioner Filippo Grandi reiterated the aim of these two days of work in Geneva, which will provide a real roadmap for the development of the “Global Refugee Pact”.
Yasmina Filali, who has been working with the UNHCR for refugees’ protection in Morocco since 2006, emphasized the obvious work of civil society, thanks to the legal framework wanted by His Majesty the King which allowed to regularize refugees and to favor in this way their integration.
“Migration carries with it the question of identity,” Yasmina Filali said, “what is played through migration is a feeling of fear, misunderstanding and mistrust.” In order to counter this wall, it is necessary to build bridges between communities”. Yasmina Filali also explained the importance of building together and showing the culture of the other. This approach values the migrant, gives him back his humanity; Culture places the person in relation to herself and to others, makes her positively visible to the host community.
Through the ‘Global Compact on Refugees’ and the Dialogue Conference, Yasmina Filali highlighted the good decisions taken by Morocco and the expertise acquired by the Foundation in the field of migration through a multitude of actions and axes of intervention.
Français – 12 Décembre 2017 au Palais des Nations Unies à Genève, Yasmina Filali, Présidente de la Fondation Orient-Occident, est intervenue devant les Délégations des États membres lors le la session inaugurale sur le thème “le Maroc peut être regardé comme un exemple en matière d’intégration des réfugiés”.
Après avoir rappeler la déclaration de New York du 19 septembre 2016 concernant la réponse donnée à la crise migratoire, le Haut Commisionnaire Monsieur Filippo Grandi a rappelé l’objectif de ces deux journées de travail à Genève qui permettront de tracer une véritable feuille de route pour l’élaboration du “Pacte Mondial sur les réfugiés”.
Yasmina Filali qui oeuvre depuis 2006 avec l’UNHCR pour la protection des réfugiés au Maroc, a mis l’accent sur le travail manifeste de la société civile grâce au cadre légal voulu par Sa Majesté le Roi pour régulariser les réfugiés et favoriser par la même leur intégration.
“La migration porte en elle la question identitaire” a indiqué Yasmina Filali “ce qui se joue à travers la migration c’est un sentiment de peur, d’incompréhension et de méfiance. Pour contrer ce mur il fait construire des ponts entre les communautés.” Yasmina Filali à également expliqué qu’il faut construire ensemble et donner à voir la culture de l’autre. Cette démarche valorise le migrant, lui rend sa part d’humanité. Elle situe la personne par rapport a elle même et par rapport aux autres, la rend positivement visible aux yeux de la communauté d’accueil.
A travers le ‘Pacte Mondial sur les réfugiés’ et la Conférence sur le Dialogue, Yasmina Filali a souligné les bonnes décisions prises par le Maroc et l’expertise acquise par la Fondation Orient-Occident dans le domaine de la migration à travers une multitude d’axes d’intervention.
