Funded by the Embassy of Japan, the “Tolerance Ambassadors Forum”, brought together children and adolescents from various reception centers and structures of support, the youth in difficult situation, or under supervision regime.
The event took place at the Al Masbahiyat Sports and Recreation Center in Mohammedia between November the 11th and 18th (2017), days that coincided with two very important events: the World Tolerance Day on November the 16th and the World Child Rights Day on November the 20th.
The objective of this forum has been to establish a constructive discourse conveying tolerance and moderation through the arts, creativity, communication as well as also fostering the approach of tolerance and moderation to encourage education within children in difficulty.
The event has seen the participation of the youth from various reception centers, child protection centers and those under the umbrella of Associations working in the region of Casablanca and Rabat. A total of 90 children, among whom Moroccans and sub-Saharan girls and boys, disabled children, participated in this event.
14 Sub-Saharan adolescents from the Fondation Orient-Occident have also partecipated in this Forum, for what is the first experience at the National level.
Our participation as an NGO fighting for a better integration of refugees and migrants in Morocco was very interesting for the children. This initiative, aimed at promoting tolerance, is an opportunity for refugee children and asylum seekers in Morocco to express themselves and to get closer and closer to the local population.
