On the Forum:
The Global Forum on MIGRATION & DEVELOPMENT – Youth Pre-Meeting to the Thematic Workshop on Children and Youth on the Move – 19-20 June, 2018 Agadir Morocco.
Background
The GFMD thematic workshop on children and youth on the move is co-organized by the Moroccan GFMD Co–Chair and UNICEF in Agadir, Morocco, on 21–22 June. It focuses on the Migrant Generation 2030 – children and young migrants born today and coming of age during the lfespan of the SDG agenda – and will discuss modalities and innovative approaches to implement the Global Migration Compact for and with young people.
It will tap into the first–hand experiences of young migrants themselves, along with local and national authorities, experts, the private sector and the international community to share, replicate and accelerate good practices that address the specific vulnerabilities of children throughout the migration cycle and maximize the benefits.
Youth engagement is a key component of the UNICEF Children Uprooted campaign, which includes a focus on supporting a youth movement that supports diversity and inclusion of young migrants and refugees. As an organiser of the workshop, UNICEF aims for young migrants to contribute as active participants to the workshop.
To achieve this goal,UNICEF proposes to hold a youth pre–meeting in Agadir on 19–20 June.
