Following and supporting the personal initiative of Mr Fouad Filali, Fondation Orient-Occident is going to start a new project of community development in the rural village of Dcheir, in the countryside north of the city of Larache. Here, 55 families live in a Douar (village) that, just until 2019, was lacking access to even the most essential resources such as water. Poor infrastructure and lack of education are just some of the additional issues that are affecting the lives of these people.
Fouad Filali initiated a change: he finances and sponsored the works to bring water, and has sought the collaboration of the Foundation to develop a project that could be durable, holistic, impactful.
Following an initial survey, we are going to elaborate a project based on the model “Tostan”, a community development model elaborated by the NGO TOSTAN INTERNATIONAL in Senegal to tackle poverty and its consequences and to make Dcheir a village capable of offering better opportunities to its youth.
