Following several field visits, the FOO teams of psychologists and social workers assessed the population’s needs in the villages surrounding the commune of Tahannaout (Douar Tinmelt and Douar Azrou). Faced with the emergency, the Foundation has decided to concentrate its action in Tinmel, which until now has not received any humanitarian aid due to its difficult accessibility. This village, now destroyed, has around a hundred children. Following the earthquake, the population gathered in two areas: around the mosque and around the school. Only one toilet is available for 200 people, families sleep in the street, children need clothes, and the school is no longer accessible. As a result, the medical and hygienic situation is very critical.
In the immediate future, the Fondation Orient-Occident plans its intervention as follows:
• Purchase and distribution of warm clothing
• Installation and furnishing of 3 containers (including twenty computers).
• Organization – in the furnished containers – of extracurricular activities and academic support classes for children, psychological support groups, and other workshops to assist the population.
• Installation of a permanent team on site composed of a teacher and a social worker
